...in the UAE can be found in Fujairah. Al-Bidyah Mosque is believed to be 580 years old. The construction reminds me a lot of the clay mosque in Mali. The simple lines, the feeling of being a building that sprung out from the earth beneath it.
The Imam of the mosque is a stout Bengali fellow. As I entered the mosque I stood in the doorway and was quickly welcomed in with a smile. "It's ok, pictures are allowed."
Men prayed on one side of the tiny praying space, and women on the other side. Equal space, side by side.

Great picture, I'm glad you found another mosque where men and women pray side by side in one hall.

Thats a beautiful pic & a great story to go with it!
Glad you found time to go to Fujairah on ur trip. Isnt it beautiful?
It's an amazing place, both Fujairah and the mosque. You just don't believe you're in the UAE when you see all the greenery. Then again, Dubai is not representative of the whole UAE now is it :)
Lovely mosque. Perhaps next time you will have some time to see something in AbuDhabi too.
Hope all is well.
Inshallah next time. All is well alhamdolillah back to life again. Praying for your little one, hope she is getting better inshallah, poor thing.
Tourists no longer allowed inside this mosque, sadly!
