Its good that people are highlighting this worthy cause, I wonder wether this petition was started by someone from the UAE or someone who can feel the pain from far away.

Stateless people, before anything else are humans. No one has the right to deny them the basic human rights. But I hope this episode will be over soon, last month they announced that they will grant nationality to 10,000 stateless people in the near future.

Well D Reb it doesn't matter who started the petition, we are all human beings at the end of the day, and ideally would be that we cared about each other no matter where we are, what we are, and why we are...

Tainted good to see you here :) I hope it will do some good inshallah.

DG, if it is as you say then it is very good news indeed. Let us hope inshallah good will come soon for all affected parties.

DG... They've made that same promise over and over again in the past. And though yes, this one might offer more merit and there is a little hope, there should be no repeated promises concerning this anymore. They need to act.

It took 1 word to take away the nationality of thousands of people. It should only take one word to give it back. What's the "This year" wait for? There was no "this year" we'll take away their nationalities when it was done. It was immediate - upon expiry of many passports there was simply no renewals allowed.

For those that never had a passport... How long does it take for a new-born to get a birth certificate or citizen to register for a new passport? A few weeks, max.
